We cut black locust in Torrington and ran truckloads of band-milled planks and posts in-the-round out to the island for several years before retrofitting.

Finishing up. Dimensional 2" x 12" locust boards were doubled for strength, including ledger-boards bolted into house-frame. Hand-peeled posts rest on threaded rod in 3.5 foot deep cement footings.
