Main part of foot is Marbledale/New Preston limestone from an old kiln, used to match the local Canaan limestone.

To accomodate several grade changes, we did not align our retaining walls on both sides of the stairway, but we placed a destination for sitting alongside the steps to keep this change from being noticed. Sidewalk stone has a raised curb next to the dirt for a footrest, and to keep you herded toward the bench while walking. Deer Isle waterfront.
